Trek 2012

I got the amazing experience
to go on trek!! So… July 11 we dropped of our buckets and checked in.  Then Emily Dillon, Noah, and I all walked home.  My family is The Gablers as my parents, Jake, Ty and Dillon as my brothers and Allison, Brooklyn, Emily as my sisters. We went to Martin's Cove in Wyoming.
July 12:
French braiding required
I got up at 5:00 AM and got dressed and ready then headed out.  WE finally left the church at 6:30 on the school busses.  WE had to sit in our families so I sat with Dillon and Emily. The bus ride ended up taking 8 hours because of bus issues.  We got up there and got our carts and went to a little orientation because it was sweltering!! Then we walked the 7 miles to the Jackson campground.  Since it took us 2 extra hours to get there we had dinner at 8:30 that night.  So we set up camp had taco salad and went to bed!!
July 13:
We woke up at 5:30 again!! Had breakfast and headed out around 6:30. We walked out about 6 miles to the cover turnoff we got up to the monument of the 3 men who carried people across the river and the picnic tables and waited for same time because there can only be so many people in the cove. So while we waited they gave us lunch and Noah was kind of being a jerk so I took my water bottle and poured it on him. I thought he needed cooled off.  Then we walked up to the cove with the Rickshaws for those people who couldn’t walk including my ma.  Then we walked back down and could see the whole valley. It was gorgeous!! Then we walked down to the picnic tables for some more time.  We started walking again and we got to the Sweetwater River and crossed it.  It felt amazing!! The river was only a few inches deep but it still felt good! Then we got all dried off and went to the women’s pull.  Sis. Desandre spoke to us and Bro. Seasons spoke to the men.  The guys lined the road we were walking on at the top.  Before it all happened Katelyn, Megann, Mandy, Emily, Allison, Brooklyn, and me all prayed that we could have the strength to do it.  Then we stared. We got up to the top put our karts down and ran back to help.  It was so cool to be the only ward that went back.  Because our ma couldn’t pull though Shelly Nelson came and pushed with us.  We got to the top the young men came to us and told us good job and that we weren’t allowed to touch the kart until Cherry Creek which was 3 miles away.  So we felt very helpless.  Then we got there so we could push.  When we got on the trail we were the last cart of the ward so we asked if we could pass and Brother Bland said yes so we passed.  We more ran. We ran for about a mile because we were trying to get away from Gary.  When he finally caught up to us he wasn’t too terribly happy we got back to camp and everything was all set up and the stake had made us dinner to “rescue” us.  It was so amazing that we didn’t have to cook.  Then we square danced and had lots of fun!! The whole time this happened the dog Oscar was with us.  It was fun to have him with us protecting us.  Then the pony express came and gave us letters from our parents and had testimony meeting.  Then we went to bed.

The next morning we packed up camp, had breakfast and walked 7 miles back to the visitors center and got on the buses.  Then we rode home the whole 8 hours.  The ym decided to have a belching contest.  We got home at around 8:30-9:00 that night.  But on bus didn’t get back till 11:30 because they had to send another bus to them in Morgan.  I was such and amazing experience. I couldn’t have asked for a better family!
